PostSubject: The Dark Crystal   Fri Dec 14, 2007 6:30 pm

I just watched "The Dark Crystal", one of my very favorite movies, and one which filled me with imagination as a child. I can't help but find some of the sybolism remarkably close to things I have been researching; the Reptilians specifically. I believe the film was truly inspired. I cry every time I watch it, and I feel very deeply touched by the story and symbols. Does anyone else have similiar feelings?

I have always loved this movie! The good verses evil and the good winning. I loved the mystics and the gelflings.

Skeksis: 'My Hand!!"

Mystic: 'And so too my hand...'

That to me is such a profound moment in the movie that opened a door to higher consciousness for me way back when I was watching that movie in my late teens.

Scarey thought - are we the gelflings in the movie? affraid

Why Blue Water, you took my portrait and posted it. How sweet.
Yes Goth, we're the gelflings. Wink

We're certainly Gelflings!

Your portrait indeed, Night. Couldn't find mine.

Here's an interesting question. What do you get out of the Dark Crystal symbolism? I always took it as representing an ancient crack-up in the Human being -- creating good and evil (or natural and unnatural.) And the Gelflings represent the heart or spirit wanting to make things right again. Make sense? Any thoughts or ideas?

To me, looking back now through the lens of what I have learnt, it seems to be the story of how we were a race oblivous to anything outside ourselves (gelflings), when along came the reptilians (skeksis), and tampered with our life force by stealing it from us. Along came the higher evolved aliens (Arcturians or Pleiadians or similar) who gave us spiritual awareness (my hand and so too my hand...) and saved us by adding their dna (the missing shard or crystal) to our life force (the dark crystal). To me it is a story of spiritual evolvement and ascencion for the human race. At the end the two alien races joined to become one representing the true nature of Universal energy - we are ALL one. It also represented the reconciliation of the light and the darkness to become whole - a powerful statement about balance and the need for both to understand the complete being.

Just my two ore as Loxley would say... Hey2

Oh, and there are heavy references to Egypt and Atlantis in the film.
