One way to get out of the Winter blahs is to plan an herb garden for the spring. Below is pineapple mint, an aromatic and edible herb that I just love. It will be on my herbal shopping list. _________________ _Art By Jessica Galbreth

Catmint is a gorgeous herb and we have some growing out in front of the house. It is the tall tiny purple flowered plant in the photo. Not my photo, but just so you could see. A medicinal herb and also used in baths and shampoos etc. _________________ _Art By Jessica Galbreth

Thyme is a culinary herb and also used for medicinal purposes. These grow easily and beautifully and I always enjoy having this one. _________________ _Art By Jessica Galbreth

Whatever you do, don't smoke the leaves of the catmint! _________________ _Art By Jessica Galbreth

Ah an old favorite, Chamomille. These flowers are used to make a calming tea, used alone or combined with other calming herbs. Also used widely in beauty and bath products, sachets, and potpourri, shampoo , and skin products. These are difficult to grow from seeds. I would recommend buying an already established plant. _________________ _Art By Jessica Galbreth

| Herbs can be dangerous if taken with drugs (you might also say drugs can be dangerous if taken with herbs.) How dangerous are herbs if you are not on drug medication? _________________ It is good to have an end to journey towards, but it is the journey that matters, in the end. -Ursula Le Guin

I decided to leave this link as there is just too much ground to cover in that area. A very useful site. http://www.personalhealthzone.com/herbsafety.html_________________ _Art By Jessica Galbreth

I love herbs too!! Thanks for starting this thread Night. My sister bought me gardening tools and herbs for Christmas - she knows me so well (earthy taurus with a green thumb ). My favourites would have to be basil (sis bought me some opal purple basil) and Sage, oh and garlic chives! My kids keep eating the basil straight from the garden (we don't use pesticides or anything like that). This year we also put in beans and tomatoes near the herbs. Tomatoes grow especially well near basil. Can you tell this is a topic near and dear to my heart? Okay, I will shut up now and return you to your ususal program..... Oh! But first I will tell you that oil of cloves is brilliant for tooth pain and is even used by dentists when numbing is required I could use some of that right now

Yup that's true. I love simmering whole cloves, cinnamon and apple or orange slices in a pot. Smells soooo good! Ah Basil, another favorite of mine! _________________ _Art By Jessica Galbreth
