Organic food? Empty
PostSubject: Organic food?   Organic food? EmptyFri Feb 29, 2008 5:38 pm

I wasn't sure where to put this, so it ended up here. The subject is pretty much self-descriptive. I'm thinking about starting to eat organic food, pretty much after some scare-tactics from today's Alex Jones Show. Wink But I'm not sure how to begin, so I thought I'd ask y'all to share your experiences, tips and advises on where and how to start.

I've found a few E-stores in Sweden that sell organic food, vegetables and fruit mostly, but none of them seem to sell organic meat. Of course it's prolly because it'd go bad before it got halfway from the shipping point, temperature and all that, but, what's the deal with that part? Can I get organicly fed animals' meat in a regular store?

Thanks in advance, friends.

I eat organic food to some extent when and where I can. Here in the country there are less organic options, plus lately I can't really afford it. The only 'organic' food I am buying at the moment is soy milk. In theory, organic foods are grown naturally. The vegetables are switched in soil beds every two years or so, and no unnatural aids are used to improve growth/appearance. In theory. But there has been criticism on the organic foods, some people questioning if they truly are organically grown/made and others flat out accusing them as being unnatural and just as bad as eating 'normal' foods. Is it just a money making scam? I'm not sure. The only way to guarantee that your food is organic is to grow it in your own garden, taking acid rain and soil and water conditions in your area into account of course. I'm no expert on organic food, and I do often eat it when I can, but I am unsure how 'organic' it actually is.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not sure my mother likes the idea of growing all the food herself, but we've got a special mark on all food that is supposed to be organically grown, here in Sweden, so I'll have to trust that all having that mark really is organically grown.

Soy is bad for you, and it's in everything, and I drink soy milk!

Right. No soy food then. Razz Even if it wasn't, I doubt I could give up real milk. It's too damn tasty.

Well, I've found a side on the Net here in Sweden that sell it in some quantity for a reasonable price, so it won't be THAT expensive for me if I start eating it. Of course I must convince my mom, since she's the one who cooks all the stuff, but, meh, that won't be a problem. My sister is with "the enemy", you see. She's a vegetarian. Wink

I would love to be a vegetarian, I just love meat so much. I'd love to try someday.

Yeah, I love meat to, so I won't give in to the Dark Side. Laughing But I can still eat organic food as long as I can afford it. All those messed-up genes they put in that non-organic stuff... It gives me the willies that I've eaten it until now. *Shivers*

It is a shame what they do to food! Some of the foods you eat, you don't even know they are genetically altered. Grrrr!

There are meat processing companies that will slaughter an entire cow, for example. Some will even allow you to get half a beef. The trick is finding a farmer to purchase the livestock from that you can trust. Watch out for antibiotics and hormones in any livestock. But that is even in our drinking water now, so expect to get some anyways. WalMart has brown and white eggs that are suppossed to be hormone and antibiotic free...they seem to spoil a little faster than the usual grocery store eggs, so it might just be true.

Anyways, the fresher the better for anything...if you can see auras, let that draw you to what foods to purchase.
