| I have a true passion for animals. I want to hear about yours. I myself have a white deaf persian cat that we rescued, a red-eared slider turtle, two small birds, and an adorable little bitty tree frog. | |

| You still have your frog Night? That is fantastic! I have a very old horse (kind of adopted - he came with the house ), two cats (one is 2 and the other nearly 13), and a doggy who is 1 and also adopted. I love animals and live in a country area of Australia. We have lots of native animals on our property. This morning we had rain and all the green frogs started singing! We also have kangaroos, goannas, frilled-neck lizards and an assortment of other wild life that comes to visit. I could do without the meat ants though... | |

| Distribution: Throughout Australia. Habitat: Sandy/gravel soils in urban areas, forests and woodlands, heath. Size: Workers up to 1 cm long. Sting: These ants do not sting, but they bite and can discharge a defensive chemical. This is usually enough to drive off other invertebrates. Meat Ants are omnivores (eat plants and animals). Be warned - the picture aint pretty but it gives you an idea of their size and verocity: Source of info: Meat Ants Info | |

See it from the bright side, Goth_Ink. At least, you don't have Marabunta in Australia. Me, I had a black lapdog once. Cute as hell, unfortunately, he got epilepsy. I miss him like hell, still. We now have a cat who lives under various nicknames, such as "Mouse-murderer", "Captain", "Splinter", and "Fatso" (though the last one is just a joke from my side...she IS a bit large around the waist, ya know..) She usually sits on the top of our arm-chairs and looks down on everybody, so that's why she's earned herself the nickname Captain. Because she looks like a captain when she sits there.

| Marabunta? Killer ants? That is what meat ants are, Loxley. They strip the flesh off things whether dead or still living... R.I.P for Night's birdie. Did you give him a burial and ceremony sweety? Loxley, I have two cats - one is weight challenged. He is a big ginger male that is 3 years old. The other is nearly 13 years old and has epilepsy and a metal pin through his leg from where some idiot ran over him when he was only 1 and then drove off. | |

God, I missed that one. I'm sorry. My condolences, Night. I know how hard it is to loose a loved pet. Goth_Ink, gotta ask, do these meat ants come in armies as well? Cause once you've seen an army of Marabuntas, you never forget the sight... God, I'm glad I live in Sweden, where the most dangerous ants we have are "pee-ants" (yes, we call them that, though it sounds cooler in Swedish), also known as red-ants. When they bite you, you just squash them with your finger, they're about two millimeter large, so... Sorry about your cat. I hate idiots like that. They should be put through thesame treatment themselves. As for being fat, well, cats look cute when they're overweight, so... But they're not so cute when they chase you around your own house (which my cat does), so make sure it knows who's the master. Mine doesn't, and she's stronger than me...

| There are ants that don't come in armies? Australia is a pretty rugged place, we like our animals threatening and nasty...like drunken koalas and kickboxing kangaroos, and ants that build nests bigger than most average-sized Aussie houses. I am used to the 'wild' wild life. I even have it in my back yard - see: Green tree snake that tried to climb up my arm about two weeks ago: Baby Frilled Neck lizard up a tree in my driveway: Peacocks on my front verandah: | |

| Thanx, for the sympathy... It's been a long time, '99, since Peewee crossed but he still comes 'round in dreams here and there... Animals can be soul mates and teach us lessons, also. Ah, I'm good on the human pet thing, though, but thanks for offering... | |

| Hey guys, I know how much you love sharing my Aussie wild life with me, so I have two new pix to show you This was a beautiful snake that came to visit my boyfriend in his backyard. It is a type of python and was about 2 metres or 8 feet long. I am so upset it wasn't in my yard. He would have been such a treat to see up close. Doesn't he look nice and shiney? | |
